This is an exciting opportunity to join a newly formed Humanities Faculty.  The KEVICC Humanities Faculty comprises of Geography, History, Religious Studies, Sociology and Business Studies with related A Level courses.

Our aim is first and foremost to deliver high quality learning to inspire every one of our students.  As such, we are seeking to appoint an inspiring, innovative and enthusiastic teacher to join a strong team of highly committed teachers working towards increased excellence.

Vacancy No 0183: Cover Supervisor

Permanent Post

Grade D: £17891 pa pro rata (actual salary £12313 per year)

30 hours per week x 39 weeks per year

Mon - Fri 8.30am to 3.30pm.

We are looking for an enthusiastic, flexible and creative individual to cover short term teacher absences working with KS 3, 4 and 5 students.

You must have the confidence to supervise a class, oversee the completion of pre-set work and manage the behaviour of students. A willingness to cover practical subjects such as Food Technology and PE along with previous experience of working with young people will be an advantage. 

The duties are varied.  In addition to cover supervision, you will also be required to provide classroom support for teachers, exam invigilation, internal exclusions, first aid and some administrative duties.  Good ICT skills are therefore essential.

Vacancy No. 0184: Senior Science Technician 

Grade D £17891 - £20456 pa pro rata (actual salary:  £12628 - £14439 pa)

Permanent post

Hours: 30 per week x 40 weeks per annum

We are looking for a person to be part of the Science Technician team; to maintain the science prep room areas in good order; to manage the science department budget for equipment and materials spend; to support the teaching staff in the preparation of practical lessons and during lesson time.

There are 11 laboratories on two sites and a current plan for two new labs within the next year.  Each laboratory technician is based in one area of the department but may be required to carry out some tasks in different areas at the request of the Faculty Leader for Science and Technology or the Lead Technician.

The duties of Technicians fall into the following broad headings:

  • Preparing, setting out and clearing away apparatus for science lessons.
  • General cleaning and tidying within laboratories.
  • Checking of equipment and transport of equipment between sites.
  • Monitoring stock.
  • Contributing to their own professional development by attending internally and externally provided training.
  • Contributing to the wider pastoral life of the College.

Previous knowledge and experience of all aspects of science is an essential requirement.

The work will involve some awkward lifting.
